The Way Forward:
Accessible Pathways
MAKING A DIFFERENCE STARTS HERE

"My dad has been gone for 11 years now, but the last truly special memories I have of him take me back to the agricultural heart of central and northern California.
It was a crisp fall morning in September when my dad insisted we wake up at the crack of dawn. He suffered from Parkinson’s disease, and there was only a short window each day when his medication allowed him to move with more ease. He knew that time was precious, so we started early.
We jumped in the car, singing along to John Denver the whole way, just as we had done so many times before. Our destination was the fruit farms of the San Joaquin Valley—places my dad had been visiting for over 30 years. He wasn’t just a customer; he was a friend to these farmers. He knew no strangers, and he was incredibly proud of the little farm we had created in Walla Walla. He wanted to introduce me to his longtime friends, the farmers who had become like family to him over the years.
When we arrived, the farm owner recognized my dad immediately. Without hesitation, he drove down in his pickup truck to meet us, personally helping my dad into the passenger seat so he could drive us partway down a row of peaches. He wanted to make sure my dad had the chance to pick fresh fruit himself, just as he always had.
I will never forget the look on my dad’s face in that moment. Pure joy. For a little while, he wasn’t someone struggling with Parkinson’s. He wasn’t someone whose body was failing him. He was just my dad, doing what he loved, surrounded by people who saw him—not his limitations.
But I also saw the obstacles. The uneven paths, the long distances, the exhaustion that crept in too soon. It wasn’t easy for him. It wasn’t accessible. And yet, those farmers went out of their way to make sure my dad could experience their land. They cleared space, made accommodations, and, most of all, made sure he felt like he wasn't a burden.
I didn’t know that I would lose my dad only a short time later, but that experience has stayed with me. It’s become one of my most cherished memories—one that is deeply ingrained in who I am.
The reason I share this deeply personal story is because, like so many of us, I have been touched by knowing, caring for, and loving someone who was limited in their mobility. I know what it means to watch someone you love struggle to access the spaces that bring them joy. I know how painful it is to see the world become smaller for them. And I know how much it means when someone reaches out and says, You belong here."
That's why we're building ADA-compliant pathways at Frog Hollow Farm—ensuring the beauty and peace of the land are accessible to everyone. These pathways are a crucial part of our commitment to meeting best practices and creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for all. They reflect our dedication to responsible growth and our mission to make the farm a place where everyone, regardless of ability, can feel seen, included, and truly belong.

EVERY GIFT HELPS MAKE OUR FARM A PLACE
WHERE EVERYONE BELONGS.
For so many of us, the ability to walk through a farm, pick flowers, or visit a greenhouse is second nature. But for those with limited mobility, these simple joys can be out of reach.
No one should have to watch from the sidelines. No one should feel like they don’t belong in a place meant to bring joy.
With your help, we can make sure everyone can experience the magic of Frog Hollow Farm.
With gratitude,
Jeff, Amy, Dylan, and Katelyn Dietrich
